VT Hackney, Inc., a Washington, N.C.-based company of VT Systems, Inc., will ramp up the production of its Kidron insulated and refrigerated truck bodies by more than 50% annually thanks to its new production facility in Kansas.

Encompassing 70,000 square feet on its 28-acre manufacturing site at Independence, the newly added facility provides the capacity to produce more than 2,000 insulated and refrigerated truck bodies annually.

Completed in less than a year, the new plant delivers Kidron’s ColdShield system, a total temperature management solution available exclusively in Kidron’s refrigerated distribution truck bodies and trailers. A critical component of ColdShield is the state-of-the-art foaming system, which enables Kidron truck bodies to protect refrigerated products by holding cold temperatures longer.

“Kidron has a strong market position,” says VT Hackney, president and CEO. “This facility investment will provide greater geographical reach and increased capacity. The Kidron brand has been synonymous with market leading innovation, quality and service. The opening of the new addition marked another important milestone along the road to continued success and sustainability.”
