CenterPoint Properties, Oak Brook, Ill., announced a 300,000-square-foot speculative building on 21.3 acres within the premier transportation and logistics development at CenterPoint Intermodal Center – Kansas City. The new facility is anticipated to be completed by early fall 2014.
The facility is located adjacent to the Kansas City Southern Intermodal facility with immediate access to Missouri Hwy 150 and Interstate 49. The site is fully improved with completed infrastructure and will feature a 60,000-square-foot wareyard, 60-foot speed bays, 32-feet clear, 37-door single loaded with 4 drive-in doors and parking for 234 cars.
“As companies redesign their logistics chain and distribution systems for greater efficiency and reach, they find Kansas City well-placed as a business-friendly, centralized location with access to major markets throughout the U.S.,” says Jim Cross, senior vice president of development. “Southern Kansas City also has access to infrastructure for road, rail, air and river barge transport, however there are very few available spaces in modern distribution buildings, which enables CenterPoint to build facilities to meet this demand.”
This new development expands CenterPoint’s portfolio by offering a state-of-the-art space inside of the secure and private property for clients who require immediate adjacency to rail, close proximity to Intersate 49 and Hwy 150 and low drayage charges.
