Comexi Group, a flexible packaging supplier, Inplacsa, a flexographic printing manufacturer and Maheso, a frozen food processor, all located in Catalonia, teamed up to achieve a more sustainable packaging for Maheso’s Pop Nuggets. Maheso pop queso

These frozen chicken snacks now come in solventless packaging, thus avoiding emissions of volatile compounds to the atmosphere.

The environmentally-sound packaging is produced by a Comexi OFFSET CI8 printing machine, what is said to be the first web-offset press for printing variable lengths over a central impression drum. The machine links the advantages of both offset variable length and flexo central impression drum printing in one press for flexible packaging and labels. The combination overcomes conventional inline offset machines by printing thinner and elastic materials (OPP, PET, PE, PA, etc).

Other benefits include the reduction of environmental impact, greater energy efficiency, high quality, greater production flexibility, quicker response/Time-to-Market and lower cost of lithographic plates.
