Frozen Fruit & Veggie Smoothies

June 23, 2014

Inventure Foods, Inc., Phoenix, Ariz., expanded its Jamba at-home smoothie line to include Blue Fusion and Red Fusion, available in the frozen section of grocery Jamba Juice fusions smoothiestores nationwide. Each package contains frozen fruit and vegetable blocks that, when blended with one cup of apple juice, make two, 8-ounce servings.

"The smoothie has evolved from simple fruit and yogurt blends to full-on functional beverages featuring spinach, kale and other veggies that boost nutritional value," says Steve Sklar, senior vice president of marketing. "Unfortunately, this functional approach often comes at the expense of taste. That's not the case with our Fusion line of at-home smoothie kits. In fact, these are some of the best-tasting smoothies we've ever developed, and they also happen to be dairy-free."

Combining blueberry, banana, apple, blackberry, carrot, broccoli and spinach ingredients, Blue Fusion delivers a smoothie suitable for any time of day, while Red Fusion features a blend of red raspberry, strawberry, dark sweet cherry, purple carrot and sweet potato ingredients to offer a refreshing beverage equally suitable as a post-workout refreshment or a better-for-you snack. Both dairy-free smoothie blends provide a full serving of fruit with 130 calories (or less) per 8-ounce glass. Each serving also provides 100% of the recommended dietary allowance of vitamin C, 40% of vitamin A and 25% of vitamins D, E, K, B1 and B6.

The new smoothie kits have a suggested retail price of $2.99-3.99 per 8-ounce bag.
