PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, Reston, Va.
The owner and producer of the PACK EXPO portfolio of tradeshows welcomed Ray Luca as director of expositions, responsible for the operations and management of the PACK EXPO events, most immediately PACK EXPO International 2014. Prior to PMMI, Luca worked with NaylorCMG, beginning when the company was Convention Management Group, and helped lead the firm through its acquisition by Naylor in 2007.

David Leonhardi, director of tradeshows, tours and events for Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board, Inc., was elected chairman of the board. William Klump, chief marketing officer, Butterball, LLC, continues to serve as past chairman.New officers include executive vice chairman—John Cheesman, vice president sales, corporate accounts, Maplehurst Bakeries, LLC; vice chairmanJewel Hunt, group vice president pharmacy, health and wellness, Safeway Inc; and treasurer—Erik Waterkotte, director of sales, John Morrell Food Group.

Jerry Lane
, president of Claxton Poultry, was installed as 2014-2015 chairman. Lane, a 35-year veteran in the poultry industry, has been with Claxton Poultry since 1985, serving as general manager and vice president. He was named president in 1997. Prior to joining Claxton, Lane began his poultry career at Mar-Jac Poultry in 1978. Serving as vice chairman is Todd Simmons, chief executive officer of Simmons Foods. New to the officer corps is Mike Popowycz, vice chairman and CFO at Case Foods, taking over as secretary-treasurer. In addition, Mike Brown was elected to a fourth term as president of NCC.

Kellogg Co., Battle Creek, Mich.
G. Zachary Gund, managing partner of Coppermine Capital, LLC, was elected to the board of directors, effective Dec. 1. Gund’s work has spanned both the manufacturing and service industries, including food manufacturing. He is also chairman of Coppermine Bakery Holdings, and serves as a board member for Agile Magnetics.

Allen Harim, LLC, Seaford, Del.
Human resources veteran Sylvia Nicholson was hired as director of human resources and corporate communication, responsible for overseeing human resources strategy development, as well as employment services, compensation and benefits, employee relations and professional training and development. Nicholson most recently served as senior manager of human resources for Aramark at The University of Delaware, and previously led human resources teams at Safran Labinal, Masco Contractor Services, Home Depot and Maximus.

Jean Fraser was appointed to the company's board of directors, effective immediately. She has been a partner at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP since 1993, responsible for guiding boards and management of prominent public companies on business and corporate governance matters. Prior to 1993, Fraser was a partner at another leading Toronto law firm. 

Food Lion, Salisbury, N.C.
Meg Ham
was named president, effective Nov. 1., succeeding Beth Newlands Campbell, who is leaving the company for personal and professional reasons. Ham will lead all Food Lion banner operations, including strategic direction, financial performance, product assortment, pricing, customer service and marketing. Previously, Ham served as president of Bottom Dollar Food.
