Kahiki Foods, Inc., Columbus, Ohio, introduced what is said to be the frozen Asian category’s first steam-in-bag meals.
Chicken Lo Mein and Chicken Fried Rice serve two and can be prepared in the microwave in less than 10 minutes thanks to the company’s new steam-and-serve bags.
“Steaming is a positive consumer benefit because it has the capability of delivering superior product quality with less effort and cleanup for the consumer,” says Scott Corey, director of marketing. “It’s also one of the best ways to prepare frozen food, since it helps to preserve the flavor and nutrients in the ingredients.”
Also new is StirFresh Sesame Chicken, which is a meal for two that can be prepared in a skillet or wok in 12 minutes and comes with a sauce packet.
All three products are available select retail grocery stores nationwide.
