KE2 Therm Solutions, Washington, Mo., developed the KE2 Evaporator Efficiency (KE2 Evap) controller, equipped with remote monitoring and control of walk-in coolers and freezers, and now with newversion 4.01 firmware.

KE2 Therm’s Smart Access software provides quick, easy, real-time access to refrigeration systems 24/7. All the KE2 Evap needs is a physical connection to the network router with a cat 5 cable. Once enabled, Smart Access automatically connects to the user’s personal web portalhosted by KE2 Therm. The portal then provides a “customized” dashboard of all the controllers.

Options include Smart Access, traditional VPN or port forwarding or local communication on site, giving users the freedom to stay on top of the system without staying with the system. The dashboard shows each system’s mode, room temperature, superheat, alarm status and more. From the dashboard, users can select an individual controller to access even more parameters, performance graphs or make adjustments to the system.

The alarm alerts feature allows text messages or emails to be sent directly to user-specified phone or PC, providing immediate notification of a system problem. The final feature is the data logging. The controller can log up to 30 days of data in 10-minute intervals. The logging covers 15 parameters, including all temperature, pressure, digital inputs and alarms, thus eliminating the need to manually record data.

Other benefits include adaptive defrost control, which generally saves 20% or more in energy costs, as well as eliminating icing issues.
