Tops Friendly Markets, Williamsville, N.Y., announced plans to move its freezer warehouse to an expansive 200,000-square-foot facility in West Seneca, N.Y., beginning Aug. 18. Having outgrown their existing warehouse (spanning 95,000 square feet) in Cheektowaga, N.Y., Tops needed a facility that allowed the supermarket chain to increase the item mix and support the company’s growth plans.

The new facility has the capacity of holding 2,500 SKUs and ensures that the company will no longer have to rely on outside storage.

Additional improvements to the warehouse will be made in the coming months, which include LED lighting, safety lights and new dock seals to enhance operational efficiencies. The warehouse will continue to employee 64 associates with the potential to adjust accordingly.

“We are so excited to be in a warehouse that is twice the size of our old facility to help us grow and continue to offer our customers all their favorite frozen foods in the future. We want to thank our partners at Allied Frozen Storage for all their help. Throughout this whole process the team at Allied Frozen Storage, and especially our Tops associates, have been extremely helpful and supportive, ensuring that this transition is successful and seamless,” says Kevin Darrington, executive vice president of supply chain and information technology.

The new facility, as well as the existing warehouse, is owned by Allied Frozen Storage, West Seneca, N.Y.
