XPO Logistics launches program to hire differently abled employees
The program, called Differently Abled Employment Opportunity Initiative, is an on-site pilot program that allows differently abled team members to work in the consumables area and be cross-trained in other areas.
XPO Logistics, Greenwich, Conn., launched a collaborated program with the ARC of Lehigh Northampton Counties, Inc., Bethlehem, Pa., to foster a relationship with differently abled individuals in XPO’s Easton, Pa., facility.
The program, called Differently Abled Employment Opportunity Initiative, is an on-site pilot program that allows differently abled team members to work in the consumables area and be cross-trained in other areas.
“The program fosters a relationship with The ARC of Lehigh Valley, and together we are providing community members equal employment opportunities,” according to XPO. “Through this program, we hope to provide permanent, long-term employment. The program has three associates now, and we are working with local organizations to hire more individuals.”
