Attendees representing the $57 billion frozen food and beverage supply chain gathered in Las Vegas recently for the 2020 AFFI Frozen Food Convention (AFFI-CON), where new AFFI officers were elected: Meghan Swan of J.R. Simplot Company as chair; Julia Sabin of The J.M. Smucker Company as chair elect; and Mike McEvoy of Sargento Foods as immediate past chair.

Swan is Vice President of McDonald’s Global business at J.R. Simplot Company, a family-owned and run manufacturer of an evolving portfolio of foodservice products, including frozen and chilled potatoes, avocado, vegetables, grains and fruit. J.R. Simplot operates around the globe and distribute products to more than 60 countries worldwide.

The seven board members elected today are: John Tentomas of Nature’s Touch; John MacArthur of Rite Stuff Foods; Gary Crowder of Smith Frozen Foods; Suvan Sharma of Jain Farm Fresh Foods, Inc.; Peter Johnston of Cavendish Farms; Blake Smittcamp of Wawona Frozen Foods; and Rick Drummond of B&G Foods.

“On behalf of the American Frozen Food Institute, I’m honored to welcome these frozen food and beverage leaders who represent our diverse and growing industry,” said Bodor. “Each individual brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, which will contribute to AFFI’s strategic priorities of advancing food safety, advocating for frozen, boosting category performance and convening industry leaders.”

During the annual meeting, AFFI also unveiled its new Power of Frozen in Foodservice Research and year-in-review video.
