Turkey processor Butterball LLC, Garner, N.C., cited increasing costs for a decision to eliminate about 150 positions at its Huntsville, Ark., operation.
The Athens (Ga.) Banner-Herald said Pilgrim's Pride Corp., Pittsburg, Texas, plans to eliminate a nighttime chicken processing shift at its Athens plant.
Although it plans to keep its Longmont, Colo., turkey hot dog processing plant, Butterball LLC, Garner, N.C., sold its Longmont brand to Sigma Alimentos.
Citing feed ingredient costs, Butterball LLC, Raleigh, N.C., said it will eliminate 265 more jobs at its Longmont, Colo., plant and cease turkey slaughtering operations there.
