A "titan." A "true pioneer." Those were just a few ways poultry industry executives remembered Don Tyson, upon hearing of the death yesterday (Jan. 6, 2011) of Tyson Foods' former chairman and CEO.

Poultry, beef and pork processing giant Tyson Foods Inc., Springdale, Ark., said the company entrepreneurial former Chairman and CEO Donald J. Tyson, died today, Thursday, January 6, 2011.

Logistics software specialist LeanLogistics, Holland, Mich., said foodservice cheese processor Schreiber Foods, Green Bay, Wis., will begin using LeanLogistics' transportation management software.

The Yucaipa Companies LLC, Los Angeles, said it raised $375 million in new equity funding to complete its purchase of Versacold International Corp.

Pilgrim's Pride, the nation's second largest chicken processor, will open the new year with new leaders.
