US Foods announced the launch of US Foods Ghost Kitchens, a program designed to guide restaurant operators every step of the way when opening their own operation, helping them easily add a new revenue stream. With the addition of this program, US Foods customers now have access to exclusive resources developed to streamline the process of starting a ghost kitchen, including proprietary technology to help identify menu opportunities, a detailed playbook to guide decision making, dedicated marketing support, webinars and one-on-one consultations with US Foods specialists.

The Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG), an industry leader in the certification of gluten-free products and food services, is enhancing the branding of its Gluten-Free Food Service (GFFS). GFFS, which audits and validates restaurants and food businesses that serve gluten-free food, is launching a newly designed logo and signage that designates establishments as “Validated Gluten Free Safe Spots.”
Apex Motion Control and Unifiller have collaborated to develop the Deco-Bot: the world’s first robotic decoration station that is capable of decorating cakes and cupcakes instantly. With the Deco-Bot, users can write, draw, drizzle, and decorate cakes with roses. They can also finish cupcakes with swirls, rosettes, and roses.
Linde announced that its U.S. subsidiary, Praxair, Inc., will begin operating under the Linde name, effective September 1. This name change reflects the company’s evolution following the merger of Praxair, Inc. and Linde AG. Operating under the Linde brand, the company has established a vision to be the best performing global industrial gases and engineering company.

Donna Garren, Ph.D., American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) Executive Vice President for Science and Policy, provided comments to the U.S. Departments of Health & Human Services (HHS) and Agriculture (USDA) on the Scientific Report of the 2020 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee. Key Technology is teaming up with Bem Brasil, the largest potato processor in Brazil, to add a new state-of-the-art potato strip processing line to Bem’s Perdizes facility. This multimillion dollar purchase includes six VERYX digital sorters, an ADR EXOS automatic defect removal system, three Sliver Sizer Removers and 57 Iso-Flo vibratory conveyors on a line designed to process 30 metric tons of frozen french fries per hour. Bem chose to partner with Key to maximize food safety and consistently meet final product quality specifications while improving operating efficiencies and increasing yield.
