To meet a growing demand for quality broiler breeding stock around the world, Aviagen, Huntsville, Ala., built a new parent stock (PS) hatchery in Quitman, Ga.
The company will also make $7 million worth of building modifications and add new equipment to the hatchery in Gibsland, La., and to the processing plant in Arcadia.
Allen Harim, Seaford, Del., partnered with Woodbridge High School, Greenwood, Del., to build a miniature chicken house for students to learn how to raise chicken for meat production.
The project, which is projected to be completed by first quarter of 2018, will involve extensive interior renovations of about 20,000 square feet of space.
Allen Harim announced plans to move its corporate headquarters just outside of Millsboro, Del., to the former Vlasic pickle plant it purchased in 2014.
The operation, currently scheduled to begin production mid-2019, will produce pre-packaged trays of fresh chicken for retail grocery stores nationwide.
