RL Cold, a division of RealtyLink, LLC, recently broke ground on a 292,000-square-foot cold storage facility strategically located in Minneapolis to meet the demands of the area’s underserved market.

Graycor Construction Company serves as the general contractor on the design-build project, with Ware Malcomb as the design partner.

The Lakeville, Minnesota site is 28 acres, located in the 205-acre Airlake Industrial Park, just 4 miles to Interstate 35 and 20 miles to Minneapolis.

“We are thrilled to begin this journey with the groundbreaking of our Lakeville project," said Josh Lewis, COO at RL Cold. "This facility will leverage the latest refrigeration technology to provide top-tier cold storage solutions that meet the evolving need of our customers. With a strategic location and expansion capabilities, it will enhance logistics efficiency and streamline supply chain operations for businesses across the region."

“Graycor is excited about partnering with RL Cold on the Lakeville build which will meet the growing demand for cold storage solutions in the Minneapolis area,” said Tim Hanifin, Graycor Construction Company president. “Our team is committed to delivering a state-of-the-art facility that exceeds our client’s expectations in terms of quality, efficiency and reliability.”

The project features advanced refrigeration technology including a transcritical Co2 system to provide precision in temperature control, optimal storage conditions for perishable items and energy efficiency. The facility will offer 50-foot clear height, 70-foot-deep truck dock, up to 34,000 pallet positions, 98 employee parking spots, 61 truck spots and 38 truck dock doors. The project will be U.S. Green Building LEED Certified with potential to be higher based on customer needs.

The Lakeville site is slated to be completed in early 2025.
