Hodo Unveils Lightly Fried Tofu in 3 Flavors

The new products provide retailers, restaurants and chefs with new ways to meet skyrocketing demand for GLP-1-friendly and nutrient-dense foods.
Hodo introduced a line of Lightly Fried Tofu in three on-trend, craveable flavors — Chili Crisp, Golden Turmeric and Gochujang. The difference is in the taste (of course), but also the preparation: the block of tofu is scored, lightly fried and then marinated, allowing the vibrant sauces to coat the surface for maximum flavor in every bite. The result is bold, juicy and seasoned tofu that is ready to eat and enjoy.
“At Hodo, we continue to be culinary-forward, leading with innovative flavors and textures,” shared Minh Tsai, founder and CEO of Hodo. “We noticed broad consumer interest in spicy Asian flavors, like chili crisp oil. The No. 1 show on [the] Netflix Global Top 10 was a show all about Korean cooking! Millennials and Gen Z associate fermented foods, like miso, gochujang and turmeric, with health and wellness. Our new Lightly Fried Tofu is flying off the shelves as we see strong initial reaction from consumers.”
As the go-to tofu provider for fast-casual favorites (Chipotle and sweetgreen), education and corporate campuses (Google and Nvidia), Hodo helps retailers and foodservice partners meet the growing demand for high-protein, plant-based meal solutions. These products are easy additions to menus, even easier to prepare in the kitchen, and available in custom blends and bulk packages.
Asian flavors are booming. All three varieties of the Lightly Fried Tofu are made with organic, non-GMO, gluten-free tofu and are packed with protein (36+ grams per package). Just heat and eat — or toss into salads, grain bowls, stir-fries or wraps. The MSRP for an 8-ounce package is $5.99. Hodo’s Lightly Fried Tofu is the family-favorite extra-firm tofu, taken up a couple of notches.
- Hodo Lightly Fried Chili Crisp Tofu — A fiery, umami-packed blend with notes of garlic, onion and crispy chilies. Inspired by the cult-favorite Chinese condiment, this flavor brings crunch and heat in every bite.
- Hodo Lightly Fried Golden Turmeric Tofu — Earthy, warm and comforting, this anti-inflammatory superstar is blended with a hint of ginger and black pepper for a golden twist on everyday tofu.
- Hodo Lightly Fried Gochujang Tofu — A Korean-inspired favorite with a perfect balance of spicy, sweet and savory. This fermented chili flavor adds depth and complexity without overpowering.
The new products have been picked up by select retailers (Erewhon, The Fresh Market, MOM’s, Good Eggs, PCC Community Markets, Berkeley Bowl and Woodman’s) and are now available to order.
