Brazil's Marfrig Frigorificos e Comercio de Alimentos S.A., Sao Paulo, said it expects by this fall to purchase six Latin American and European food businesses from OSI Group, Aurora, Ill. Officials said the deal is initially valued at US$680 million -- involving a combination of cash and Marfrig common shares -- and includes 15 manufacturing locations with annual revenues of approximately US$2 billion. Terms provide for an ongoing partnership between the two companies, with OSI Group's David McDonald, president and chief operating officer, serving on Marfrig's board of directors.
