Ethnic and specialty foods processor Circle Foodstoday will open a newly constructed 132,000-square-foot processing plant and warehouse in Otay Mesa, Calif. (San Diego).

Officials say the new operation will process, package and distribute fresh, refrigerated and frozen products. Circle Foods' product line includes frozen Nuevo Grille Mexican foods, refrigerated La Terra Fina quiche and specialty items and Tortilla Land and Roti Land tortillas and flatbreads.

"This new facility is the cornerstone of our continued growth, giving us the increased size and the latest, most innovative equipment to drive all parts of our business forward -- from new recipe development to production, packaging and warehousing capabilities," said Eric Brenk, Circle Foods' general manager and chief operating officer.

Officials say the new operation effectively doubles Circle Foods' production capacity. The company also has a facility in Union City, Calif.

On hand for an official ribbon cutting will be Stephen Bronfman, president and CEO of Claridge Inc., Circle Foods' parent company.
