Frozen bakery and snacks leaderJ&J Snack Food Corp.,  Pennsauken, N.J., said it expects by the end of this May to buyConAgra Foods' frozen hand-held products business for an undisclosed amount.

The business sells dough enrobed products under private label names as well as such brands as Patio, Hand Fulls, Holly Ridge Bakery, Villa Taliano and Top Picks. Officials say the business generates approximately $50 million in annual sales. It includes two plants in Holly Ridge, N.C., and Weston, Ore.

"This is a fine line of products that will expand our folio of brands to existing and new venues," said Gerald Shreiber, J&J Snack Foods president and CEO.

J&J Snack Foods' frozen portfolio includes SUPERPRETZEL soft pretzels, Luigi's and Mama Tish's frozen juice bars and ices, Tio Pepe's churros and Country Home and Readi-Bake cookies.
