Jimmy D's breakfast entrees

August 16, 2010

Sara Lee Corp., Downers Grove, Ill., says new Jimmy D's breakfast entrees are ideal for kids and 'tweens looking for a quick meal before school. Meanwhile, the new breakfast items offer moms a convenient breakfast option for the family because each offering contains just 210 calories or less and 7 or more grams of protein.

In a frenzy to get out the door, kids and tweens often rush off to school without eating breakfast, says Sara Lee. Conveniently microwaveable and ready to eat in less than two minutes, Jimmy D’s breakfasts help moms start their kids’ day off right with a warm, balanced breakfast when combined with a serving of fruit and a glass of fat-free milk.

"On days when her family has important events and much to accomplish, moms are especially aware of the value of starting the day with a hearty breakfast that provides energy for herself and her kids," says Daryl Gormley, vice president breakfast and snacking, Sara Lee North American Retail. "At Jimmy Dean, we know that eating a balanced breakfast that includes protein can help give you the fuel you need to start off your morning right and focus on all of the important things you have planned for the day rather than on your hunger. We’re excited to introduce an offering that can help serve that need."

Sara Lee says new Jimmy D’s breakfasts can be found in the frozen breakfast section at supermarkets nationwide and are available in three varieties:

French Toast Griddlers – A cinnamon glazed French toast breakfast sandwich with Jimmy Dean turkey sausage. With 210 calories and 8 grams of protein, the Jimmy D’s Griddler Sandwich contains protein and contains vitamins and minerals such as iron5, niacin4 and folate4. The sandwich contains 8 grams of fat, 2 grams of saturated fat and 390 mg of sodium.

Griddle Sticks – A Jimmy Dean turkey sausage link wrapped in maple pancake batter on a stick. At 160 calories and 7 grams of protein, Jimmy D’s Griddle Sticks contain protein, phosphorus3 and niacin4. In addition, they provide 6 grams of fat, 1.5 grams of saturated fat and 410 mg of sodium.

French Toast Duos – Two cinnamon glazed French toast sticks served with two Jimmy Dean turkey sausage links. At 210 calories and 12 grams of protein, Jimmy D’s Duos provide protein and also contain iron5, B vitamins4 (including riboflavin, thiamin and vitamin B12), folate4 and zinc5. They have 10 grams of fat, 2.5 grams of saturated fat and 440 mg of sodium.
