Teledyne DALSA announced its new Piranha4 8k trilinear color camera, which uses Teledyne e2v’s latest CMOS 8k trilinear sensor with a 7.5x7.5-µm pixel and a maximum line rate of 33 kHz x 3 or 100 kHz aggregate with a camera link interface.
TRILINEAR COLOR CAMERA
Teledyne DALSA announced its new Piranha4 8k trilinear color camera, which uses Teledyne e2v’s latest CMOS 8k trilinear sensor with a 7.5x7.5-µm pixel and a maximum line rate of 33 kHz x 3 or 100 kHz aggregate with a camera link interface. Replacing the bilinear Piranha4, the trilinear model offers improved color imaging, and can be used in a variety of industrial applications, including print, printed circuit board, electronic component and general web inspections. This newest Piranha4 model is supported by Teledyne’s Xtium series of high-performance frame grabbers. Plus, it delivers high-quality native RGB colors and independent exposure control for each channel.

Beckhoff Automation launched the eXtended Transport System (XTS), which provides paradigm-shifting capabilities for packaging machines and smart factories. The mechatronic solution enables intelligent material flow, exceptional precision, real-time robotics integration and efficient self-reconfiguration based on lot, recipe or other product specifications. Highly customizable and durable motor modules, mechanical guide rails and wireless movers integrate the necessary power electronics, EtherCAT communication and position measurement in a compact form factor, reducing machine footprint up to 50%. XTS movers can be controlled with high dynamics at velocities reaching 4 m/s and acceleration exceeding 100 m/s2. Modular linear motors and rails can create circles, clothoids and S-curves as well as straight, open segments. Supporting installation horizontally, vertically or at angles, tracks can be combined to dynamically manipulate or transport parts with multiple movers.

MULTI-APERTURE, MULTI-LANE METAL DETECTION
Fortress Technology unveiled the latest Interceptor DF system, which delivers optimal food safety whilst helping to eradicate false product rejects. Rather than channeling multiple lanes through a single metal detector, one Stealth metal detector mounts across three conveyor lines. Each conveyor has its own BRC-approved reject system, and each aperture operates like a stand-alone metal detector. This puts a stop to an entire row of good product being rejected and wasted if a contaminated product is identified on one line.

BLOWMOLDER VISION INSPECTION SYSTEM
Agr International presented the Pilot Vision+, an in-the-blowmolder vision system designed to work in conjunction with high-speed, re-heat stretch blowmolding equipment. The Pilot Vision+ system offers a modular approach to detecting defects that work within the blowmolder. The open architecture allows for simultaneous management of up to 6 cameras in multiple locations. Other features include color preform cameras for managing color variations, simple configuration and operation, large-screen user interface and defect categorization by mold/spindle and defect type.

SMART CAMERA SYSTEM INSPECTS LABELS, CODES ON ROUND CONTAINERS
METTLER TOLEDO CI-Vision introduced the new V15 Round Line smart camera inspection system, designed to confirm the presence, completeness and readability of alphanumeric label information and printed 1D and 2D codes on round packaging. Using six evenly distributed viewpoints and liquid lens focusing technology, the V15 conducts 360-degree inspections of containers to ensure both label ingredient information (such as potential allergens) and inkjet-printed codes are clearly readable. The liquid lenses adjust automatically to the distance from the target, enabling the system to inspect containers of different sizes without physically moving the cameras. Optional cameras can be added to inspect the tops and bottoms of containers. The entire system is housed in a stainless-steel cabinet, keeping it secure even in harsh washdown environments. The V15 runs on Inspection Manager software, which can be programmed to allow access to only qualified personnel.
