In-house USDA import inspections will now take place at Lineage’s Jourdan Road cold storage facility in New Orleans East.

The facility is perfectly suited for handling frozen import/export commodities like poultry, seafood, produce, and other perishable products. 

The change announced by the FSIS comes in response to a joint petition by the GCCA and the Meat Import Council of America (MICA).

FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers' freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. 

The products subject to recall were distributed to retail deli locations nationwide. 

The 270,000-square-foot building will feature Alta EXPERT Refrigeration Systems and QFM blast freezing, the latest evolution in QuickFreeze technology.

With this capability and certification, North Carolina will be a destination for the import of fresh produce into the U.S

The problem was discovered by Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. when they identified pieces of hard plastic in their production process and in a barrel of diced green chiles that was received from their ingredients supplier, Sun Valley Foods. Sun Valley Foods initiated a recall of the green chiles with the FDA. As more FDA information becomes available, FSIS will update this public health alert.
