Refrigerated & Frozen Foods named Marina Mayer as the editor-in-chief, replacing Bob Garrison, who was appointed editor-in-chief of Prepared Foods, a sister publication. Garrison spent 15 years on RFF, helping build its brand and forming strong relationships with suppliers, processors and industry organizations.
Mayer is no stranger to the food industry.
She joined BNP Media (RFF’s parent company) in February 2008 as a managing editor for Snack Food & Wholesale Bakery, a sister publication. In January 2009, she was also appointed managing editor of Dairy Foods, another sister publication, responsible for juggling writing, reporting and proofreading of both magazines. In July 2010, she was promoted to executive editor of both publications, responsible for reporting on market trends, ingredient R&D, production technology and new products within the dairy, snack food and wholesale bakery markets. She has featured several refrigerated and frozen food manufacturers, including Milano’s Cheese, Home Run Inn, Frozen Specialties, Inc., Fage USA, Ellison Bakery, and more. She also has given presentations on trends at various tradeshows and acts as a go-to new product “guru.”
Prior to joining BNP Media, she served a five-year tenure as editor of quality control for Manufacturers' News, Inc., where she was named "Manager of the Year" in 2006. Previously, she worked as editorial assistant for Insider Magazine and worked as a contributing features writer for her college newspaper, the Indiana Daily Student.
Mayer is a recipient of a Young Leader Scholar award, presented from American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE), which is given annually to only five U.S. journalists, 30 years of age and under.
She is a graduate of Indiana University with a bachelor's in journalism.
