Frozen burrito processor Phil’s Fresh Foods, Boulder, Colo., has entered a joint venture with the Burrito Investment Group (B.I.G. LLC) to establish a new company name, brand and look for its hand-rolled, all-natural burrito line: EVOL® Burritos.

B.I.G. includes Bear Naked Granola co-founder Brendan Synnott, who says he was anxious "to get back into brand building" after selling the granola brand to Kellogg's in 2008.

“People love burritos,” Synnott says. “They’re satisfying and convenient and can be really healthy, so why don’t more of us stock them in our freezers? Because most frozen burritos don’t deliver on taste or nutrition. When I found Phil’s, partnership was a no-brainer - people have no idea a frozen burrito can be this great.”

Synnott says he recruited key management, creative and sales talent from his Bear Naked dream team to support the EVOL launch. EVOL’s signature burritos feature antibiotic-free chicken, pork, beef and chorizo sausage; cage-free eggs; herb-roasted skin-on potatoes; and house-made salsas and green chilé – all hand-rolled together in fresh tortillas with numerous Colorado-sourced ingredients.
 
“I’m beyond pumped about the new brand,” says Phillip Anson, now a founder and partner of EVOL Burritos. “I'm still making the burritos I love, but now I have the support of an all-star team and the financial resources to grow my company in the way I'd always imagined."

EVOL’s diverse burrito lineup offers palate-pleasing options ranging from the egg and potato-packed Breakfast Skillet and the extra meaty Shredded Beef to the vegan Tofu and Spinach Sauté (80 percent organic) and the newest addition, Cilantro Lime Chicken (70 percent organic). At a suggested retail price of $2.99, the 6- and 8-ounce burritos are distributed nationally through numerous key retailers including Whole Foods Market, Wegmans, Vitamin Cottage, King Soopers and Stop & Shop.
