Talk about getting into the spirit of the season. Lifeway Foods, Morton Grove, Ill., is introducing its first seasonal flavor: Cranberry Creme Brulee Kefir. Officials say Lifeway's alternative to eggnog this holiday season will give consumers a healthy way to enjoy classic holiday tastes without the classic holiday calories.

Lifeway says the new offering offers the rich flavor of vanilla custard and caramelized sugar, and is infused with a "tangy cranberry zing." New Cranberry Creme Brulee Kefir has only 160 calories and 2 grams of fat per serving. Officials note that -- like the company's 13 other offerings -- this latest contains 10 exclusive live and active cultures.

Beginning in November, Lifeway Foods' Cranberry Creme Brulee flavor will be available in 32-oz bottles at select stores nationwide including: Whole Foods, Jewel Food Stores in the Chicagoland area, HEB in Texas, Kroger, Schnuck's, Stop N Shop, Hy-Vee, Food Emporium in Manhattan, Ingles, and Harris Teeter.
