Seremoni Seafood Expands Retail Footprint

Seremoni, a modern seafood company making Michelin-quality, humanely caught fish more accessible, is now available at two new retailers: FreshDirect and Wegmans. Consumers in New York City and the surrounding Tri State area can enjoy the same wild-caught fish trusted by the world’s best chefs at home, through convenient grocery delivery via FreshDirect or for pickup at the iconic Sakanaya fish market at Wegmans Astor Place.
Seremoni Grade seafood offers exceptional flavor, delicate texture, and a shelf life up to three times longer than conventionally caught seafood. The secret to Seremoni’s remarkable fish lies in its proprietary handling method that blends modern technology with the science behind ike jime, an artisanal Japanese fishing practice. The company partners with American fishermen to directly source its premium wild-caught fish, which are fully traceable and humanely harvested the second the catch is pulled from the water.
“Chefs trust Seremoni because we deliver seafood at the highest standard, and now that same quality is available to home cooks,” said Saif Khawaja, founder and CEO of Seremoni. “The best fish starts with how it’s caught — there’s no tradeoff between flavor, freshness, and conscience. Our goal is simple: make responsibly sourced, exceptionally delicious American seafood accessible to everyone.”
“At FreshDirect, we look for partners who hold themselves to the same high standards we do: exceptional quality, responsible sourcing, and a genuine care for what people eat,” said Marie Claire Bryant, Category Merchant, FreshDirect. “Seremoni delivers all of that and more. Seremoni Grade fish represents the pinnacle of quality — think grass-fed beef, but for seafood.”
This month, FreshDirect customers can shop Seremoni Grade Vermilion Rockfish fillets ($37.99/pound) and American Red Snapper, available whole ($18.99/pound) or by the fillet ($36.99/pound). Later this season, FreshDirect will offer Seremoni Grade Black Cod frozen fillets – preserving peak flavor and freshness for easy preparation at home.
Seremoni Grade Vermilion Rockfish is now available at Wegmans’ Sakanaya fish market ($18.99/pound for whole fish and $39.99/pound for fillets), with more options coming soon. Located at the Astor Place store, Wegmans brings the quality and selection of the famed Japanese fish markets to downtown Manhattan.
Seremoni’s East Coast expansion builds on a series of recent partnerships with boutique grocers. The company’s fish are also featured in over 40 Michelin-starred restaurants.
