Stellar, a Jacksonville, Fla., design, engineering and construction firm, said it finished building a 130,000-sq.-ft. meat processing plant in Seminole, Okla., forSigma Alimentos SA de C.V., one of Mexico's largest refrigerated food processors. Officials for Monterrey, Mexico-based company said the new location will support U.S. sales (eliminating some export logistics) and produce Mexican-style hams, cold cuts and hot dogs.
Stellar said the Seminole plant features separate raw and ready-to-eat areas as well as separate entrances and welfare areas. The plant includes administrative offices with training rooms, a raw material receiving dock, finished docks, a USDA inspection office, separate utility mezzanine and fully automated and advanced water cook, cool and chill system for hams.
