Cloverleaf Cold Storage, Sioux City, Iowa, said it purchased three freezer warehouse facilities in Chesapeake, Va.; Benson, N.C.; and Sumter, S.C. Terms were not disclosed. Officials said Cloverleaf now operates 14 warehouses with more than 60 million cubic feet of refrigerated warehouse space in facilities spanning the nation’s prime protein producing areas of the Midwest and South Atlantic states.
A newly completed rail spur now connects Iowa Cold Storage LLC (ICS), Altoona, Iowa, to the Union Pacific and BNSF railroads, says Iowa Cold Managing Director Gary Jones. Specifically, Iowa Interstate Railroad (IIRR) will service the facility, which now has the capacity to stage six jumbo railcars at its dock and another eight cars on an adjacent rail siding.
