It's not hard to find moose tracks in Michigan during the summer time. Actually, Meijer Stores, based in Grand Rapids, just introduced Moose Tracks Chocolate Chip Mint to the company's premium private label ice cream line.

The new offering represents a partnership with Moose Tracks' parent, Denali Flavors Inc. in Wayland, Mich.

Officials say the new item is a "new take on an old favorite, featuring a blend of decadent mint-flavored ice cream with swirls of dark chocolate Moose Tracks Fudge and mint milk chocolate candy cups."  Meijer Premium Mint Moose Tracks ice cream retails for $2.99 per half-gallon, and is available at all Meijer Supercenters throughout  the Midwest.

“We felt we had a winner with Mint Moose Tracks, even in the concept stages,” said Neal Glaeser, president of Denali Flavors and Denali Ingredients, Inc.  “What we couldn’t have anticipated is the overwhelming acceptance of this new flavor across the board."

Glaeser says Denali began licensing its Moose Tracks family of ice cream flavors to Meijer in 2007.  Since then, the partnership has generated a number of Meijer-branded ice cream products, including Original Moose Tracks®, Chocolate Moose Tracks®, Original Moose Tracks Churned Style® and Chocolate Moose Tracks Churned Style®.

"Our premium Meijer brand ice creams do really well, particularly in the summer months,” said Frank Guglielmi, director of public relations for Meijer.  "But the Mint Moose Tracks exceeded our expectations and then some.  It’s quickly become one of our best selling flavors of ice cream.”

Meijer operates 189 supercenters throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky.
