Kansas City Southern Invests $19M to Improve Rail Safety
Kansas City Southern, Kansas City, Mo., and its U.S. subsidiary, The Kansas City Southern Railway Company (KCSR), will invest approximately $19 million in 2015 on construction and improvement projects on KCSR’s Beaumont Subdivision line, which runs from Beaumont, Texas, to DeQuincy, La. These projects will help grow capacity, as well as maintain and enhance safety on the KCS cross-border network.
This work is in the final phase of a multi-year improvement program on the Beaumont Subdivision. Work will begin on April 21 and continue through the end of May, and will include the replacement of 20 miles of rail and 40,000 cross ties, as well as improvements to 10 road crossings in Mauriceville, Texas, and Starks and DeQuincy, La.
