Dianne's Fine Desserts, Newburyport, Mass., launched its spring dessert line, targeting two key menu trends—nostalgic flavors and healthy ingredients.
New products include:
Malted Chocolate Milkshake Cake soaked in chocolate milk and topped with a chocolate malted mousse.
Orange Dream Swirl Cake, orange-flavored cheesecake layered with white chocolate cake and filled with vanilla bean orange mousse.
Chocolate Brookie Delight, a mash-up of chocolate chip cookie topped with chocolate brownie and finished with chocolate ganache.
New healthy ingredient-inspired desserts include:
Mountain Berry Tart, blackberries and raspberries atop a custard-filled crust.
Gluten-Free Raspberry Almond Shortbread layered with raspberries and almond frangipane.
"Consumers are looking for desserts that meet their individual dietary preferences or restrictions, including more fruit and more gluten-free foods, which according to the National Restaurant Association, grew by 18% in 2014,” says Brian Wortham, marketing director.
