Stavis Seafoods, an international seafood wholesale and distribution company, will become an anchor tenant of a new seafood facility planned on the Boston Waterfront, located on Parcel 5 of the Massport Marine Terminal. This 90,000-square-foot building will house all of the company’s Boston-area locations under one roof for more than five years, beginning in September 2018. The building will encompass freezer, cooler, processing and office space.

The facility will utilize the latest in construction technologies and is said to be the most technologically advanced, energy efficient and environmentally friendly seafood processing facility in Massachusetts. The $40 million building, situated at the Port of Boston, will also include a Cascade refrigeration system. Groundbreaking for the new building will occur in the fall.

“It was important for us to keep our ties to the city and the waterfront,” says Richard Stavis, chief executive officer and director of sales. “This new space allows us to do that. Moving all our Boston-area facilities into one location has been a long-term goal for us. It was necessary in order to meet our customer’s ever-expanding needs.”

The company also has a processing facility at 7 Channel Street, a fresh center facility located at 310 Northern Avenue and a full-service processing and storage facility in Miami, Fla.
