DunAn Microstaq, Inc., Austin, Texas, introduced the silicon refrigeration valve (SRV), an electronically controlled, fast-responding, bi-directional expansion valve that supports air conditioners, heat pumps and refrigeration applications up to 1 ton of refrigeration capacity.

The SRV incorporates MEMS (MicroElectroMechanical Systems) technology that is manufactured using silicon (Si) semiconductor material. It boasts a 3-layered silicon chip that actuates based on an electro-thermal principal.

The SRV is compact, lightweight and compatible with all common refrigerants, including hydrocarbons.
