AUTOMATED SORTATION FOR LARGE PARCELS

MHS, a single-source provider of material handling automation and software solutions, announces a new singulation solution for high-throughput parcel operations. The new Activated Roller Belt (ARB) Large Parcel Singulator is designed to keep automated sortation systems running smoothly, transforming a bulk flow of packages into a single-file stream, critical for high-throughput operations. The ARB Singulator uses a series of roller belts that operate at progressively increasing speeds, capable of handling up to 12,000 parcels per hour, with over 99% singulation accuracy. MHS uses computer vision to measure incoming flow, modulate conveying speeds and cull side-by-side packages. The system is designed to ensure maximum singulation performance for all packaging types—even items in flexible packaging like bags. An integral recirculation line reintroduces packages that are separated at the side-by-side eliminator and buffers peak package flow to keep downstream systems performing at peak efficiency.

VERTICAL FORM FILL AND SEAL

PFM

PFM Packaging Machinery’s R700 is a flexible, compact solution for the production of bags sealed on three sides, such as pillow-bags, and block bottom bags, including four corner seals, with speeds of up to 120 cycles per minute. It is one of PFM’s R series of vertical form fill and seal machines that feature automated film reel set-up, eliminating one of the most difficult and time-consuming tasks for operators. Also from RFM is the Pearl, a horizontal flowrapper constructed in stainless steel for hygiene benefits. The Pearl is becoming increasingly popular for a wide range of applications in the food industry, including pet food. Compact, with a short infeed, the Pearl is a flexible packaging solution offering reduced downtime for reel changes, automatic film web tracking, a space-saving footprint, and capable of up to 150 packs/minute.

SEMI-AUTOMATIC TRAY SEALER

REEPACK ReeTray

The REEPACK ReeTray 30 Semi-Automatic Tray Sealer is ideal for small to medium size processors as it can perform three types of sealing: ambient tray sealing, MAP and VSP applications. The ReeTray 30 is also ideal for large processors who test market products in laboratory settings prior to product launch. The ReeTray 30 Semi-Automatic Tray Sealer features a chambered system for packaging products in lidding/VSP trays, as well as flat cardboard (VSP skin on board applications). Easy-to-use change tooling makes this unit a great lab or low production test market machine. Ossid is the North American master distributor of REEPACK.

MAP OXYGEN CONTENT CHECK

GEA OxyCheck

After receiving approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, GEA launched the innovative GEA OxyCheck, which is the world’s first in-line measurement system that can check the oxygen content and seal integrity of every single package in a modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) line. It was introduced to the market at the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) in Atlanta earlier this year. With GEA OxyCheck, every MAP is non-invasively inspected for oxygen content after sealing on a GEA thermoformer. Until now, packages had to be damaged by a probe and testing was limited to a small sample coming off the line.
