In 2014, Refrigerated Foods Association (RFA) proclaimed July as National Deli Salad Month. This designation has been officially recognized and established and each year, throughout the month of July, food manufacturers promote and feature such summer staples as potato salad, macaroni salad, dips, chilled desserts, protein salads, ready-to-eat sandwiches and more.
“Our international association is excited to having set aside a special month to help consumers purchase convenient, fresh, ready-to-eat deli salads during the month of July,” states RFA Membership Chair Wendie DiMatteo Holsinger. “The RFA includes food manufacturers from across the country and even internationally who are committed to providing a safe, tasty alternative to made-from-scratch salads. We want to promote the industry and provide incentives for purchase.”
RFA members can celebrate with special contests and promotions, in addition to a charitable effort to collectively combat hunger in our country. The RFA has partnered with Feeding America, a national network of food banks, to help solve the problem of hunger in our nation. Members are encouraged to contribute to the Association’s month-long donation drive, as well as to donate excess food to their local food banks all year long.
