The Food Marketing Institute (FMI) launched an industry-wide initiative to promote private label brands.

Although it plans to keep its Longmont, Colo., turkey hot dog processing plant, Butterball LLC, Garner, N.C., sold its Longmont brand to Sigma Alimentos.
