The Associated Press reported that Sara Lee Corp., Downers Grove, Ill., plans by March 30 to close a meat plant in Shannon, Miss.

Meat processors AdvancePierre Foods, Cincinnati, and Johnsonville Sausage, Sheboygan Falls, Wis., said they formed a strategic alliance that gives AdvancePierre exclusive foodservice distribution rights for Johnsonville Sausage products.

Diversified frozen foods giant Rich Products Corp., Buffalo, N.Y., said it promoted 30-year company veteran Kevin Malchoff to its board of directors.

Organic yogurt processor Stonyfield Farm, Londonderry, N.H., said it hired Walt Freese, former CEO at Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc., to become Stonyfield's president and chief executive officer.

Consumer packaged goods giant Kraft Foods Inc., Northfield, Ill., identified leaders for its global snacks and North American grocery companies.
