Health & Safety in the Cold Chain

Refrigerated & Frozen Foods often focuses on new innovations along the cold chain – everything from automation and robotics to new processing techniques and packaging technologies. This September the cover story explores ways companies can keep their most valuable asset – their employees – safe at work.  

Nearly two-thirds (62%) of U.S. households buy plant-based foods, now an $8billion market. This month’s feature looks at the current state of plant-based foods manufacturing and processing and some of the latest market research from the Plant Based Foods Association.  

Our Cold Chain Ops column looks at ways that cold storage racking can help store and retrieve frozen and temperature-controlled product with greater ease and efficiency.  

Plus a retail roundup of the latest snacks, appetizers and side dishes in cold and frozen foods.  

With fall comes a return to the association meetings and conferences. I’m looking forward to attending the Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) Convention in Florida this month and the National Refrigerated & Frozen Foods (NFRA) meeting outside of Washington, D.C. in October.
