The new facility will process 8 million pounds of milk per day into a range of cheese (300 million pounds per year) and whey products for U.S. and international markets.

Glanbia Nutritionals, Evanston, Ill.; Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), Kansas City, Kan.; and Select Milk Producers Inc., Artesia, N.M., announced plans to build a large-scale cheese and whey production facility in St. Johns, Mich.
Tetra Pak USA, Vernon Hills, Ill., launched Tetra Alcross RO Lite, a filtration system that helps small and medium-sized dairies extract value out of whey.
Grande Cheese Co., Lomira, Wis., acquired PGP International’s Juda, Wis., whey processing facility, which is located adjacent to Grande Cheese’s Juda plant.
The Associated Press reported that cheese and whey protein processor Bongards' Creameries, Bongards, Minn., purchased a former ACH Food Companies plant in Humboldt, Tenn.
With its business expanding in the Southeast, meat and sauces processor Five Star Custom Foods, Ft. Worth, Texas, said it plans to open a second processing location.
Looking to increase its U.S. presence and boost its whey protein business, Arla Foods Amba, Viby, Denmark, said it agreed to a whey processing and marketing deal with Green Meadows Foods, LLC.
