Preferred Freezer Services (PFS), a Chatham, N.J., leader in advanced design and engineered temperature-controlled warehouses, is expanding its footprint in Avon, Mass., by opening its fifth cold storage facility in the United States (its 31st worldwide). The cold storage specialist worked through a joint venture with HN Gorin and Campanelli.

The 150,000-square-foot facility will be home to an assortment of modernization upgrades to the refrigeration system, racking equipment and roofing, along with six high-speed Rytec doors to the freezer and a high-efficiency white reflective roof membrane. The existing hydraulic dock plates for the 24 exterior dock doors will be replaced with state-of-the-art airbag dock levelers. The environmental-friendly facility will also be retrofitted with LED lighting, a back-up generator, CCTV security system and Wi-Fi warehouse management systems.

“Our existing and new customer demand in the Boston area for additional cold storage space has continued to grow over the last three years, and we are thrilled to finally be able to meet those requests,” says John Galiher, president and CEO.

The Avon site will be accepting product beginning Sept. 10.
