Established in 2023, the Move to -15°C aims to reset frozen food temperature standards to reduce greenhouse gases, lower supply chain costs and secure global food resources.
The Move to –15°C Coalition is pleased to announce that Sandra Roling is joining as the managing director.
Roling's appointment comes at a pivotal time for the coalition, which is working to establish –15 °C as the new industry benchmark for frozen food storage and transport. The current standard of –18 °C has been in place for nearly a century. However, recent studies show that raising the set point by just three degrees can significantly reduce energy use and associated emissions without compromising food safety or quality.
She brings more than a decade of experience leading international sustainability and climate action programs. She previously served, amongst others, as advocacy director at Business for Nature and as director of transport at the Climate Group, where she helped build global initiatives such as EV100, working with multinational businesses to accelerate the shift to zero-emission vehicles. Roling's career spans roles in both the private and nonprofit sectors, with a consistent focus on systems change, strategic partnerships and practical decarbonization.
Roling began her new role by representing the Coalition at ANUGA 2025 in Cologne last week, where she met with members and engaged key stakeholders across the food and cold chain sectors.
“I’m excited to be joining a strong coalition of businesses and experts to drive change in this vital industry,” Roling said. “We have a clear opportunity to reduce both emissions and cost across the cold chain, and I look forward to working with our partners to scale research, collaboration, and action.”
About Move to -15°C
Established in 2023, the Move to -15°C aims to reset frozen food temperature standards to reduce greenhouse gases, lower supply chain costs and secure global food resources. It was founded following the launch of the Three Degrees of Change report, an academic paper supported by global logistics firm, DP World. Recognizing that a change in global temperature standards requires a collective effort, the Coalition brings together key players within the global food supply chain to collaborate and explore viable options for a move to -15°C.
