Sammontana Gelato Grows U.S. Footprint with Single-Serve Lineup

In a market full of "Italian-sounding" labels that are American-owned and American-made, Sammontana represents an Italian company, with Italian recipes, producing in Italy.
Sammontana Gelati all'Italiana, the No. 1 gelato brand in Italy, announced the U.S. launch of its single-serve lineup: 11 new products across three formats — Gelato Bars, Gelato Sandwiches, and Gelato Cones — every one of them manufactured in Italy and imported to the United States.
The launch marks the most significant expansion of the brand's American presence since its U.S. debut in summer 2025, and reinforces a clear point of difference in a crowded category: in a market full of "Italian-sounding" labels that are American-owned and American-made, Sammontana represents an Italian company, with Italian recipes, producing in Italy.
The new lineup joins Sammontana's iconic Grande Pints, already on U.S. shelves since 2025, to form the most comprehensive authentic Italian gelato offering available in the United States. Long a fixture of the Italian summer, found in every beach café, bar, and family freezer across the country, the single-serve range now reaches American consumers for the first time, designed for grab-and-go enjoyment.
Sammontana Gelati all'Italiana is the flagship brand of Sammontana Italia, one of Italy's most important food groups, generating approximately €1 billion in revenue in 2025.
The group employs over 2,000 people across nine production facilities, six in Italy and three abroad (United States, Canada, and France), and brings together a portfolio of well-known Italian brands including Sammontana Gelati all'Italiana, Bindi, Tre Marie, Forno d'Asolo, and La Rocca Creative Cakes. The scale of the group underpins Sammontana's ability to manufacture in Italy and distribute a fully imported product range across the U.S. market.
The new lineup
- Gelato Bars (2.54 fl oz) — Layers of creamy gelato, rich swirls, and crunchy inclusions enrobed in a soft coating with cookie pieces. Available in Pistachio, Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolatey, and Mango.
- Gelato Sandwiches (2.54 fl oz) — Authentic Italian gelato layered between soft cereal cookies and finished with a silky dip coating. Available in Pistachio, Salted Caramel, and Coffee.
- Gelato Cones (4.06 fl oz) — The Italian gelateria experience in a crispy waffle cone lined with chocolate, topped with real ingredients like crushed pistachios, praline almonds, and freeze-dried mango. Available in Salted Caramel, Pistachio, Sweet Cream, and Mango.
The new lineup begins rolling out this summer, starting in the New York market, following the same model as the 2025 Grande Pints launch, and progressively expanding to more than 30 states by the end of the year. Distribution focuses on specialty bakeries, cafés, and convenience stores, a curated rollout in line with Sammontana's premium positioning, rather than a mass-retail launch.
"Last summer, we introduced American consumers to the joy of authentic Italian gelato through our Grande Pints. This year, we're completing the experience," said Alberto Paderi, president & CEO of the U.S. subsidiary of Sammontana Italia. "These products have been part of Italian summers for years. Now, for the first time, American consumers can enjoy them the same way Italians do, with the experience, the ingredients, and the craft that sets Sammontana apart from anything else on American shelves."
Founded in 1946 in Empoli, Tuscany, Sammontana is Italy’s leading producer of artisanal-style retail gelato. A symbol of Italian summer for generations, Sammontana combines traditional craftsmanship with innovation, offering high-quality gelato made according to Italian style and recipe and enjoyed around the world. Known for its creamy textures, bold flavors, and the iconic smile logo designed by Milton Glaser, the brand represents joy, authenticity, and Italian excellence.
