OSI Group, LLC, Aurora, Ill., and Millard, an Omaha, Neb.-based refrigerated warehousing and distribution services company, jointly opened a new OSI plant attached to the existing Millard facility in Geneva, Ill. The new operation is producing branded and private label frozen entrée dishes such as Salisbury steak and chicken parmagiana, as well as a variety of frozen pasta products, including lasagna. These items are sold to supermarkets, mass merchandisers, club stores, foodservice and other customers throughout the United States.

OSI will also use the facility as a consolidation point for shipments from other production locations to customers across the country.

“The new facility is a great opportunity for OSI to accommodate the growth of existing product lines and enable our expansion into new, attractive product categories. Additionally, having the new operation attached to Millard’s distribution center significantly reduces overall product handling and supports OSI’s sustainability plan objectives. Millard is helping us accomplish this by providing expertise in construction, logistics and warehousing,” says Kevin Scott, executive vice president of OSI.

The OSI space attached to the Millard facility includes a production area, storage and office space that total approximately 80,000 square feet. OSI expects to initially employ 100 workers at the new location.

“OSI is an innovative company that is constantly working to enhance the way it makes, markets and ships its products. Millard is proud to partner with OSI on the new production space and looks forward to helping the company and its customers improve their operating efficiencies for many years to come,” says Lance Larsen, chief executive officer at Millard.
