Several refrigerated and frozen products earned recognition in BrandSpark International’s first U.S. “Best New Product Awards” (BNPA) survey. The Toronto brand insights firm said it partnered with Survey Sampling International, Shelton, Conn., to question 50,000 U.S. consumers about their favorite new products in the food, personal care and household categories.
BNPA food winners included:
Juice – Simply Apple refrigerated juice (Coca-Cola)
Yogurt – Dannon Light & Fit (Dannon Co.)
Frozen food – DiGiorno Ultimate pizza (Kraft Foods)
Ice cream – Edy’s Slow Churn Vanilla (Dreyers Grand Ice Cream)
BrandSpark said 2008 was the BNPA program’s sixth year in Canada and its first in the United States. Officials said SSI conducted its Canadian 2008 survey simultaneously so that BrandSpark could draw upon larger consumer insights and shopping trend information.
“The Best New Product Awards are the ‘People’s Choice’ awards for consumer products,” said Robert Levy, BrandSpark International president and chief executive officer. “The program provides a barometer of North American consumer trends and attitudes; everything from health and wellness, to packaging concerns, the environment and social responsibility.”
