Greek yogurt firm expanding in New York

Having just completed its $85 million plant last April, Greek-style yogurt processor FAGE USA Dairy Inc., Johnstown, N.Y., is poised to expand the operation yet again, according to an Associated Press story. President and Chief Operating Officer Ioannis Papageorgiou said double-digit U.S. sales have the company planning to add more production capacity -- bolstering what already stands about 15,000 tons of yogurt per year. FAGE USA's 120,000-square-foot operation currently employs about 111 people and supplies retailers throughout New York City as well as stores nationwide belonging to the Costco, Kroger and Publix chains. FAGE is a unit of FAGE DAIRY INDUSTRY S.A., Athens, Greece.
