Schmid acquires Pacific Valley Dairy
Schmid Inc. said it purchased Pacific Valley Dairy, Pacific, Mo., on March 30 for an undisclosed amount. Pacific Valley processes ice cream mix, frozen desserts and soft-serve products for distribution throughout the Midwest as well as Texas and Florida.
Schmid, Orrville, Ohio, is parent to Smith's Dairy, the Orrville, Ohio, maker of Ruggles milk and ice cream, cottage cheese, sour cream, iced tea and juices, dips and punches. Schmid also owns Wayne Dairy Products, a Richmond, Ind., fluid milk processor.
Schmid said Pacific Valley co-founders Tim Bacich and Dan Schumacher will remain with the company in leadership roles. Rich Carr, Wayne Dairy production manager, will relocate to Missouri to assume the same post at Pacific Valley, said Schmid.
