Quick. Name a frozen novelty that's healthier than ice cream and even more nutritious than a juice bar.Jolly Llama Company LLC, Oakland, Calif., says its single-serve tubes of Jolly Llama Squeezable Whole Fruit Sorbets -- available available in West Coast stores since July -- have been a hit with grown-up and kids alike.
"There's nothing else like them on the market," said Scott Jacobson, Jolly Llama president and founder. "We use premium ingredients and leave out the bad stuff like genetically-modified corn sweeteners and artificial flavors, so you can feel good about indulging in them."
The product is available at more than 150 stores, including most Whole Foods Stores (California), Oliver's (Sonoma County), Nugget Markets (Sacramento area), New Leaf Markets (Santa Cruz County), Berkeley Bowls (Berkeley), Mother's Markets (Los Angeles), Basha's and Sprouts (Phoenix), and numerous others in Washington and Arizona now carry the squeezable single-serve tubes.
Consumers nationwide can order the four flavors (blueberry, acai, strawberry, and mango) for home delivery through the company's website, www.jollyllamasorbets.com. Suggested retail price is $1.49 for a 3 oz. tube.
Jolly Llama says it makes its sorbets from whole fruit "to retain all of the fiber and nutrients that nature intended," sweetens them with natural pure cane sugar, and fortifies them with Vitamins A & C, as well as fiber. Every flavor is low in fat and calories, gluten-free, and contains no allergens.
