Schwan’s Food Service, Inc., Bloomington, Minn., introduced a new line of “Scratch Ready” pizza offerings for K-12 foodservice operators, revealed new Asian-style sauces with simplified ingredients and expanded its line of pizza topped with uncured turkey and beef pepperoni.

“We are bringing solutions to foodservice directors that students and school district chefs have told us they are interested in,” says Robert Dircks, K-12 channel leader for Schwan’s. “In November 2018, we collaborated with the Schwan’s Chef Collective, HISD chefs and students to create new, craveworthy Asian-fusion recipes using our Minh sauces. Students expressed interest in more variety and trying new flavors, and operators said they are looking for ways to simplify prep time. We can help solve all of these challenges.”

New to the Big Daddy’s premium pizza lineup is the Primo Scratch Ready Rising Crust Pizza. With this pizza, operators start with Schwan’s pizzeria-style crust and can customize the toppings and bake — no thawing, stretching or docking required.

“School foodservice operators have the desire to offer variety in the lunches they provide, but struggle with controlling costs and waste,” says Dircks. “This new Big Daddy’s Primo Scratch Ready Pizza gives them endless possibilities with one pizza SKU. It’s a win-win for the kids and school culinary teams.”

The company also expanded its use of uncured turkey and beef pepperoni on its line of Big Daddy’s Primo pizzas. This uncured pepperoni comes on all Big Daddy’s crust lines, including rising crust and the par-baked crust. This change provides foodservice operators even more pepperoni options, with no added artificial preservatives, no nitrates or nitrites and no BHA or BHT.
