A Jaffle is a retro pocket sandwich originating In South Africa in which a sweet or savory filling is placed between two slices of bread, then placed in a “Jaffle Iron”, and toasted. Jafflz were created by South African native Meryl van der Merwe, a classically trained gourmet chef and doting mom dedicated to making flavorful, wholesome meals for health-conscious people on the go.

A native of Cape Town, South Africa, and now living in the U.S., Chef Meryl started traveling the world at the young age of 8, and she continued her travels until settling down in Park City, Utah. After several years of cooking as a private chef, Chef Meryl hit on the idea of making her cuisines available to a broader audience by incorporating her recipes into a childhood favorite--a Jaffle--and putting them into foodservice and onto retail shelves. Chef Meryl’s high standards and history of creating top-shelf meals have resulted in her artisinal Jafflz version of the pocket, made from scratch with all-natural premium ingredients.
