The Cleveland Indians announced a new partnership with Perry’s Ice Cream, a Great Lakes regional brand and Upstate New York’s #1 ice cream choice. The new partnership is a four-year deal through 2023. As part of the new partnership, Perry’s will work with the Tribe to develop a co-branded ice cream flavor that will be available for purchase at the ballpark and in stores around Northeast Ohio.
The Maryland facility--which serves all 163 Giant Food stores--now has 106 dock doors, a 20% increase.

Giant Food, a leading greater Washington D.C. regional grocery chain, announced the expansion of its distribution warehouse in Jessup, Maryland, which serves all 163 Giant Food stores throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia and Delaware. The expansion will add over 95,000 square feet, a 23% increase in footprint, which will increase efficiency and add capacity for high-demand categories like organics, fresh produce, meat and seafood as well as other merchandise including fresh cut floral and seasonal products.
Brands include José Olé, Great Value and Casa Mamita; green chiles were processed by Sun Valley Foods, LLC.

The problem was discovered by Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. when they identified pieces of hard plastic in their production process and in a barrel of diced green chiles that was received from their ingredients supplier, Sun Valley Foods. Sun Valley Foods initiated a recall of the green chiles with the FDA. As more FDA information becomes available, FSIS will update this public health alert.

The Refrigerated Foods Association (RFA) reports a collective donation of $8,000 to Feeding America during 2020’s National Deli Salad Month (July). Member companies committed to donating both monetarily and with in-kind donations as a collective effort to combat hunger in their own communities. Hands-on volunteer work was also encouraged. Their July fundraiser resulted in a total of $8,000 for Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of food is also donated to local food banks each year by these businesses.

Tyson Foods announced Dean Banks will succeed Noel White as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), while maintaining the role of President, effective October 3, 2020. White, who led Tyson through a period of unprecedented volatility and uncertainty when he assumed the CEO role in 2018, will remain with Tyson in a new role as Executive Vice Chairman of the board of directors.

Pallets inside the chamber are brought to ISPM-15 standard temperatures to eliminate pests. Pallet stacks automatically enter and exit the chamber during the treatment process.
